The Chief R.J. Canuel Scholarship was established in 1998, being
the only one of it's kind in Canada, to be named after a Chief Of
Police. Ray had been a Youth Officer at one point in his career and was
also a big supporter of education. He wanted to ensure that all
students had the chance to continue their post secondary schooling.
This scholarship was set up to assist any student in Canada, who wishes
to continue their education to a University level.
Each year the Chief R.J. Canuel
Memorial Golf Tournament raises funds for Ray's scholarship and
other worthwhile endeavors. This year's tournament will also be raising
funds for The Law Enforcement Tourch Run For B.C.
Special Olympics.
